Aldermaston Parish Council
Who we are & what we do
Aldermaston Parish Council consists of 7 elected councillors assisted by a Clerk. Our Clerk is the only paid member of staff. We receive an income in the form of a precept, which is charged to residents as part of Council Tax. The Parish Council sets its budget and precept each year; for several years we have kept the precept unchanged atat £13.5k. If there is development in our parish that is subject to Community Infrastructure Levy, then we also receive ad hoc funds from this source. In recent years we have received CIL money from Rosebourne and Lidl.
The Parish Council meets on the second Tuesday of every month at 7:30pm in the Parish Hall in Aldermaston Village. These meetings are open to members of the public who are invited to speak on any matter related to the Parish in Open Forum. Our meeting agendas are published publicly, on our website, ahead of each meeting.
Our Parish Council role is limited and many issues of concern to parishioners are the responsibility of West Berkshire Council. Nevertheless, we have the right to be consulted on important issues like planning and we endeavour to represent the interests of the community utilising our contacts within the District Council and responding to relevant public consultations. We also have responsibilities looking after PC owned assets including grass cutting and maintenance of playground equipment, and we are able to give grants to local organisations that benefit our community such as the Church, the Parish Hall, and local charities.

How to get in touch
Anyone wanting to get in touch can do so via email to the Parish Clerk or a specific Councillor.
If you would like to speak to someone in person, include your phone number in the email and someone will get back to you.
Please note that the Clerk works part time, so a response may take a few days.
